Archive for the ‘the gap’ tag
half of the world is going crazy over lanvin x h&m. it’s cute but i think it looks too much like the “real” lanvin from the past seasons. plus, 200 dollars for an h&m dress? who are you kidding. you’ll get the same thing in the same price range when lanvin goes on sale.
mixing valentino with the gap? i’ve loved the high street brand since i was a kid. it’s basic and understated cool at its best. i’ve had a few gap stuff for decades and still love them to bits.
Designer duo Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, who took over from Valentino Garavani in 2008, apply their skills to Gap’s neutral canvas by taking pieces of quintessential American sportswear and introducing soft, feminine tailoring.
The utilitarian parka, in heavyweight khaki green cotton, will be available in three styles – as a jacket, a long-length parka and, its most dramatic expression, a cropped version stamped with Valentino’s signature style – bows and ruffles.
A similar treatment is applied to cargo pants, with frills, worn low on the hips with for soft edge.
i really like the cargo pants and the parka. so cute!!! the collection will be available in Gap’s flagship stores in milan (20 November) and london flagship as well as colette in paris from 27 November.
i love love the gap!some say it’s boring, but there’s something so comforting when you wear basics. they make the best tees and the best khakis. my favorites are their boyfriend khakis and pima cotton vnecks. and i’m also excited about their design editions. they’ve been doing it for a couple years with philip lim, etc. i have a basic white shirt from last year’s collection which i got here! (tin of MFO was supposed to get it for me, but i was surprised to see them at the gap glorietta).
this year, the designers of vena cava, alexander wang and albertus swanepoel will be designing pieces for an all-khaki collection. my faves? shorts and motorcycle jacket from alexander wang and the dresses from vena cava.
i’m pissed. not only am i too early for the chanel in nyc exhibit, i’m going to also miss the special colette(only my favorite store in paris) mock-up at the fifth avenue GAP store. wait, the mock-up will be in the store from september 5th to october 5th. i’m arriving in new york via JFK at 7pm on october 5th. so technically, if i just drop off my stuff at celina’s and get my ass from chelsea to midtown in, let’s say, 20 minutes(i think i’ll cab it), i can still probably see the f-amazing stuff from colette before the store closes! YAY!
