this is THE fashion movie to end all fashion movies this year. bill cunningham’s new york is a documentary featuring the photographer and his work. as the man behind the new york times’ on the street, he pioneered street style photography even before the sartorialist was even walking! so influential is mr cunningham that anna wintour, yes, the devil herself, feels slighted and insecure when he declines to photograph her. YES.
and in this day and age of instant celebrity, self-importance and vanity, maybe we should take a look at this legend’s own down-to-earth lifestyle and real wisdom. maybe we can learn a thing or two about life.
if the women of new york city during fashion week are any indication, bill cunningham has declared that shoes have taken over handbags as THE fashion statement for F/W2008. i personally love it! must be the recession or something, but the amount of money you would spend for, say, a chanel bag(would you believe a medium classic flap bag/2.55 in caviar is almost USD 3000!! CRAZY! i bought mine for SO MUCH CHEAPER), you can get at least 4 or 5 decent pairs from louboutin or YSL. so now you know where my money will be spent in my next new york trip (btw, a week and a half to go! ACK!!!!!)
some photos from on the street that i absolutely loved –
shoes are TDF. omg, i can’t sleep. *drool*
i thought this was funny! almost all the girls i know bring an extra pair of shoes in their bag or in their car. i have flip flops in my car and just change into my shoes once i get to my parking slot. i would die for fashion, but there has got to be some time for my feet to rest. walking around in 4-inch miu miu pumps is a skill i need to work into my resume.

seriously, this arab scarf thing needs to end. right now. sure, it’s kind of chilly now in manila because of the rains but a month or two ago when every other guy was wearing that arab scarf with skinny jeans, that was ridiculous. i am typically very open when it comes to fashion and trends, but for this one, i mean, do we really have to?
even NYtime’s bill cunningham thinks that scarves in the middle of a heat wave is crazy.
