The New Journey

with 7 comments

Getting lost in Pamplona. This is where the pilgrims of el camino de Santiago walk through in this part of Spain. Lovely stroll around the neighborhood! #elcaminodesantiago #pamplona #apain #travel

Hello World, is anybody out there?

I know, it’s been almost a year and I haven’t blogged. No particular reason, really. Life just got in the way but everything is well and good. I can’t really ask for more.

Sunset dining @ magic hour, Bali-style. Beautiful! #rockbar #bali #indonesia #travel

Thank you to the followers who have sent their concern or questions about when I’m coming back to blogging.I did a lot of traveling, working and living the past 12 months. You could’ve seen that on my Instagram feed – IG was too easy. Just post a photo, write a witty caption and that’s it. But I guess, there is much to be said in prose than in photos.

This morning, I woke up and did my usual Saturday routine and errands and it just clicked – I must start blogging again. And this I’m doing as I sit on my chair at Chiyo’s Salon getting my hair did. LOL!

On the way up to Monsterrat. Lovely views from the train. #montserrat #spain #travel

There are so many things I want to share..I don’t know where to start.

But this comeback is for you, guys. And thank you for waiting patiently.

Divasoria in Northern Living

with 2 comments

Lame self-promotion post as I am notoriously shy and protective of my private and blogging life but as D puts it I will have to own up to it. So here it goes.LOL

I’m in the latest issue of Northern Living and I talk about how I started blogging and successfully merging my two interests plus I share my fave luxe and steal beauty products and some tips!

After checking out the issue, P said that the “Northerner” title is now a misnomer as I have since then moved to Makati a couple of weeks back but truth be told, I am a QC girl for life, LOL.

You can check out the latest issue at your nearest outposts around the Northern part of Metro Manila.

Divasoria ver 2.0

with 23 comments

I didn’t want to make it a bigger deal than what it really is but yes, Divasoria.ph has found its permanent home.

I’ve been blogging for 12 years in various forms. My very first blog was a little private one on blogger which practically just chronicled my last year in college and my first few years working and living in New York. I was eventually invited to join the blogging community at livejournal when I moved back to Manila and this opened the door to understanding and realizing the influence of this new medium. Not only that, blogging via livejournal introduced me to a whole new generation of creative and thinking Filipinos and this is where I met most of my closest friends now.

A few years ago, I decided to create Divasoria to build a “mature” blog which focused more on specific topics I was interested in like travel, beauty, fashion, food, fitness, politics, pop culture, music, etc and less about my own daily foibles. I never really thought anybody would be interested in it nor gather a critical mass audience but I still get shocked and kilig at the same time whenever people come up to me to tell me that they read my blog or follow me on twitter. At some point this year, I felt I could no longer ignore the different possibilities and opportunities given to me via this blog.

And with that, welcome to Divasoria ver 2.0!

A few thank-yous are in order, so I hope you can indulge me for a little bit.

Thank you to my family for always reminding me what’s important in life and allowing me to pursue little creative outbursts/hobbies since I was a child.

Thank you to my dearest and closest friends – Cecile Van Straten, Jeroen Van Straten, Kevin Ching, Keri Zamora, Len Lopez, Kerin Ching, Jean Prudente, Noee Guzman, Celina Esteban, Heidi Solangon, Majella Baquiran, Dianne Goette, Ross Evangelista, Stephanie Morillo-Collazo, Pia Lorenzo for showering me with friendship, support, love, affection, guidance, fun, warmth, and honesty.

Thank you to Cecile Dominguez, Tina Pastelero, Fabian Mangahas, Alexei Villaraza, Therese Endriga, Cels Esguerra, Jill Genio, Yvette Tan for sharing their time and listening to my random thoughts and laughing with me and most importantly, for also giving intelligent opinion and sound advice.

Thank you to Minna Co who brought up the idea to start a beauty series and she is the reason why I have Glossy as a regular and integral part of this blog. I also thank my WONDERFUL glossy girls who have all been very cool, very intelligent, very generous and very efficient.

Thank you to all the Simple Girls who keep me on my toes.

Thank you to my awesome blog readers and twitter followers. You make me believe that there is a well-travelled, smart, opinionated, cultured, young, vibrant, sophisticated, working, liberal and THRIVING Filipino social media audience. You guys amaze me everyday!

Thank you to the Philippine Star, Metro, Maven, Preview, UNO for all the support.

I had some apprehensions with opening up this new chapter in my blogging life but rest assured that I have been and will remain uncompromising with my own opinions and thoughts.

I am humbled by all the support and love from everybody. 🙂

Online Shopping made easy by Catalogue 63

with 8 comments

catalogue 63 -1

As a huge Internet addict, I can’t even imagine life without it. During the height of typhoon Falcon’s onslaught a few weeks ago, cable TV in my neighborhood went down. I was praying the whole weekend that my Internet connection would not go next. Thankfully, it didn’t.

The Internet has opened up windows of possibilities with social media interaction in real time; movies or TV shows on-demand and probably the best invention since sliced bread — online shopping with just a click of a mouse.

With online shopping at our fingertips, I don’t need to book a plane ticket just to check out new stuff from J.Crew, Barneys, and Colette. Their websites are easy to navigate, efficient and simple enough for you to enjoy retail therapy. But despite the proliferation of international brands on the online shopping front, Filipino brands haven’t capitalized on this phenomenon outside cumbersome social media outlets such as Multiply or Facebook.

For those unfamiliar with shopping via social media, it’s a little overwrought. A vendor sets up a social media account filled with photos of their products. Then you go through the process of checking out the albums and asking the seller the price of each item individually. After a few private messages, you need to pay them through some mobile system such as GCASH or deposit money in the seller’s bank account. This tedious process has made me too wary of the experience until I found out about Catalogue 63.
