Menchu Antigua-Macapagal is the Cebuana model/beauty queen who moved to Manila to pursue a career in broadcasting. She started off by modelling, and transitioned into hosting small events, which eventually got her noticed by talent scouts. In 2001, she joined the Miss Philippines Earth Pageant and emerged as 1st runner up. After years of experience in the hosting industry, she became the accidental dj—after a guest appearance on the now defunct 103.5MaxFM. Currently, She is the anchor of “Solar News Cebuano” and Entertainment host for “Solar Network News” and “Solar Nightly News” on The Solar News Channel. She’s recently returned to her original frequency, 103.5 which has just been reformatted back to its original name KLITE and co-hosts the “Morning Buzz” with her new partner, veteran DJ Sonny B.

Menchu is a wife, dog-lover and soon-to-be mom.

My day starts pretty early and tends to end rather late so I like to keep my “beauty regimen” (if you wanna call it that) simple. For day, I use Olay Regenerist with SPF 15. I love it coz it’s really light and has built-in sun protection. As soon as I get home, I whip out the ever-reliable Ponds Cold Cream. It’s the only product that removes ALL the layers of makeup and dirt from my face really quickly… even the most waterproof of all eyeliners and mascara. Before hitting the sack, I smooth on Lierac Coherence cream and dab some Dior Eye Cream. My facial skin takes such a beating with all the makeup and studio lights on a daily basis, and it seems like these two products really keep my skin looking and feeling fresh.

When it comes to my hair, I go through blow-drying, curling, straightening… in short, my hair goes through torture… and I don’t have too much time to go to the salon. That’s why I love Bed Head’s Peppermint Hair Mask and L’Oreal Total Repair Night Essence. Once a week, I slather on Bed Head’s Peppermint Hair Mask, leave it on for 5 minutes, rinse and just towel dry. The mint makes it a really soothing experience and it deep-conditions my hair too. During the week, I use the L’Oreal Night Essence. I love it coz it’s a quick conditioning treatment. I just apply it to shampooed, towel-dried hair and leave it overnight. Fuss-free, and my hair is nice and soft the next day.

One of my favorite beauty buys would have to be this set of makeup brushes. I found this complete set at a bazaar last year and it only cost me 1,200 pesos! Definitely a steal!

More of my favorite things are 1. Neutrogena Body Oil: I love how it goes on light and the smell always makes me think of the beach. 2. Lucas Papaw Ointment: My sister got this for me in Australia. It’s great for burns, cuts, cracked skin, and a whole lot more, but I use it as a lip balm. Dry lips? Never a problem for me… And now I hoard this stuff! 3. Revlon Skin Lights: It’s a bronzing powder that I use as a cheek contour or even a body shimmer. I love it coz it’s not too shiny, and gives me that instant “healthy” glow.

  1. Love Neutrogena Body Oil! For the very same reasons…goes on light and the smell makes me think of the beach! So no matter how tired I am at night, or on those days when I’m not so energized to go to work, it always makes me feel happy 🙂

  2. I miss your glossies!! 🙂
