Sorry to be on a long blogging hiatus for most of December. Between the holidaze and MOH/wedding duties, I was busy beyond belief and the first week of the new year was spent recuperating.

So here I am posting my first entry for 2013! And it’s all about Celina and her wonderful Boracay wedding. Celina is one of my closest and dearest friends from high school and I am honored she picked me to be her maid of honor. She is NYC based now so we have been planning and coordinating her special day for the past year or so. I’ve never been this involved in a wedding, it(at certain points) honestly felt like I was also the one getting married! LOLs.

The bride picked Boracay because she wanted a destination wedding for her friends and family coming to the Philippines from all over the world. The reception venue was at the beautiful Asya Premier Suites which we visited early part of 2012.

After many many many months of planning, the special day finally came. I was kind of dreading it, quite frankly. I find Boracay one big hot mess and having been THIS involved in the wedding made me nervous.

Despite all the hassle of being stuck in Kalibo overnight due to the typhoon, I was glad I was finally in Boracay! This bag welcomes me at my hotel – schedule of activities plus some cute knick-knacks for our stay at this beach paradise.

The wedding day itself was pretty hectic! After a night of partying from the rehearsal dinner and some drinking and dancing at…cocomangas(i KNOW! I haven’t been there since I was 25!), we had to wake up bright and early to have our hair and make-up done. Here is the view from our villa at Asya.

With my other good friends from high school Heidi and Noee(I was also her MOH!). All the drama about our dresses were (almost) forgotten, we were just happy to spend the day together for our friend. We have been friends for some 20 years or so.

Lots of good food, drinks, music and the night ended with fireworks. It was truly the perfect wedding! (*pats self on the back)

Spent the days after nursing a slight hangover and getting a tan. This was taken early Sunday morning, the 30th. Empty white beach + sea breeze = PERFECT MORNING.

I also hunted for my favorite party munchie in Boracay – the choriburger! still pretty darn good and cheap! Glad that some old time faves are still pretty affordable in this island. I felt a little bewildered with all the development and materialism on the island but I guess that is the price you pay for success and progress(?!?!)

This was a special treat – sax on the beach! Despite all my apprehensions and “jaded-ness”, the wedding and the whole stay in Boracay turned out to be pretty amaze! It was a nice event/vacation to close out the year.
