the first time i saw swatches of fall/winter 2011 colors of chanel, i was instantly attracted to graphite. it was grey and smokey and just a touch sparkly. it was love! but there was something about peridot….

peridot, coincidentally, is my birthstone and honestly, i’m not a fan of the gem either. i remember wearing a peridot stud earring growing up and i wasn’t exactly fond of it. but peridot as a nail color? there was something wildly interesting and supremely unique about it.

primarily gold with a tinge of green depending on the light, peridot was one of those true chameleons. the gold was something i needed to get used to since i’m not one for “out there” lacquer on my nails.

but the green hue on a more subdued lighting is just pretty and uplifting. and i like it that people get a little taken aback when they see it on my nails. a friend, in fact, thought i was weird having gold on one finger and green on another. chanel’s peridot is that deceiving and amazing at the same time, so it’s hard to find a perfect dupe.

definitely something you need to get for your collection.
