i was going through my hard drive from my old iBook and saw these. i posted them on flickr years ago. these are photos of my grandmother, engracia laconico.

the one above is my favorite. it’s a photo of my grandma when she was 4 or 5, with her sister, nena. this was probably taken around 1915(lola nene is the chubby girl with short hair and a hairband). my lola nene, as we fondly called her, wasn’t really fond of me because i was a very naughty little girl. heehee. i just find it ironic and FUNNY that we look a LOT like each other. LOL.

my lola nene grew up to be miss philippines in 1933.

and she married my grandfather, gregorio zara, a future national scientist.

we still have their love letters from across the seas since lolo went to school in ann arbor, boston and paris. they’re really funny and very sweet

the first time i read jeggings on the cut and then after seeing whitney port in them, i was like uhmm mehhh, skip the trend!

but like all trends, never say never. we went to topshop this afternoon and saw a pair of dark jeggings and made kerin, the skinny and modelicious ching sib, try it out.

not bad, right? of course, kerin is 5’8 and 110 lbs. anything looks good on her. but for me? i would have to say nay.
