GOOPed

i’m going to let you in on a secret. i am obsessed with gwyneth paltrow’s GOOP. not so much for her advice on things that “nourish the inner aspect”, more for gawking into the life of a hollywood starlet.
GOOP is filled with advice on shopping, dining, travel, child-rearing, etc – i think some of her suggestions are kind of laughable and insensitive. but what i like most about GOOP is gwynnie’s honesty. she makes no pretenses on coming out as the undomestic diva(she suggests a slew of “are you serious” kind of recipes like steamed peas!) and she doesn’t parade around trying to be a frugal wife and mother(how about that 1400-dollar weekender bag as a gift for a dear friend?). as she said in an interview, she can’t pretend to be somebody who earns USD 25,000. which is the truth, really. i also love the newsletter last week where she talked about A frenemy! catty catty catty. (my guess was winona ryder, what was yours?)
you have to hand it to mrs. chris martin, she has big brass balls and that’s why i continue to wait with baited breath my weekly GOOP.
to read more about my GOOP obsession, here is the full article for Radar this sunday
camellia
i’ve been obsessing over getting a new tattoo. i have a small one on the lower right back. yes, cecile calls it a tramp stamp. LOL. i got it when i was 19. i was in my “pa-cool”/”pa-angas” phase – i had a tongue ring and i had a tattoo. don’t hate me, it was the 90s. hahahaha. come to think of it, i could not imagine going through final round finance/banking interviews with it, but hey, i got offers. eventually, i took them out a month before college graduation thinking i’d have to be an adult and really – who ever saw a banker/finance person with a tongue ring?
so yah, the tattoo. i have chinese characters meaning peace. not that i regret it, it was a silly thing that i didn’t really give much thought. now at 30, i’d like to cover it with something more “meaningful” and i’ve been thinking about it for some time until the other day when cecile shared with me such a beautiful quote from coco chanel.
“to be irreplaceable, you have to be different” really touched me. although boring compared to some people, i’ve always thought i was a little bit unusual – a little bit eccentric, a little bit over-the-top, a little bit loud, a little bit high-maintenance. and what better way to represent coco chanel and her own little quirkiness and passion for life, all of which i can totally relate to, but of a beautiful camellia flower.
chanel fans all over the world know that the brand’s official flower and symbol is the camellia. incidentally, camellia flowers also mean desire, passion and refinement. i want it exactly like the one pictured above, black with white lining. with a pearl in the middle.
F-AMAZING.
this blog is amazing. i died.
irreplaceable

To be irreplaceable, you have to be different
- Coco Chanel
what an amazing quote to live by. thanks, chuvaness.
Happy Earth Day!

feed your caffeine addiction while saving the earth. plus you get 40 pesos off your drink. not a bad deal.
social experiment
here’s my take on the brangelina in manila news. heehee.
and this i got from twitter – RT @perezhilton: Dear Madonna, please stay OFF horses!!! The Queen fell while riding today. Minor injuries. Doing ok. so does this mean it’s a no-go for madonna in manila?
SADNESS.
DYING!!!!!

here we go again. but i don’t care. according to a reliable source(that’s chuvaness to you and me), madonna, only my most favorite lokaret of all time, is coming to manila to adopt. i’m hyperventilating as i type this.OMG!
desperate housewives

in the grand tradition of redunk trashy shows, i love real housewives of new york city. trashy yet oddly addictive, the housewives will pull you in with their crazy antics and social climbing skillz. and i wrote all about it for the philippine star over here.
YAY for trashy tv! YAY for team bethenny!
oh miss lauryn

i’ve been ODing on lauryn hill and the fugees the past few days and OMG, i love lauryn! lauryn’s the miseducation of lauryn hill was the album of choice in NYC circa 1998-1999. miseducation was one of those CDs that whenever you listen to it you just shake your head in disbelief on how awesome it is(trivia – a young john legend played piano on the album!). it crosses so many genres and even non-hip hop/rap fans appreciate its greatness. it’s probably one of the most important albums of the late 90s – way ahead of its time. it paved the way for the likes of alicia keys, beyonce, rihanna, etc. believe me, it’s a must-have for any serious music fan. heck, even barack obama loves her! (i read an article asking what’s on his iPod – lauryn hill was on the top of the playlist!)
lauryn is an incredibly talented singer but people forget that she’s an amazing songwriter and insightful rapper as well. i was googling her to find what she’s been up to lately and well, she’s in some sort of limbo. it’s a shame she’s been having a few personal issues. i wish she’d stop making babies and start making music again! incredible talent like her should come out with new stuff every now and then. l. boogie PLEASE COME BACK!
